An anvil cover looks simple, but the actual fit depends on cylinder diameter, cover width and thickness, section count and the geometry at both locking ends.
Start with machine information, then verify the part
Record the machine brand, model, working width and original part number. Machine data narrows the search, but machines can differ by year or modification, so confirm the actual cover with dimensions, drawings and photographs.
Six dimensions to confirm
- Bare cylinder diameter, or clearly state if the outside diameter includes the installed cover.
- Width of each cover, total assembled width and number of sections.
- Total cover thickness, measured in an unworn area where possible.
- Locking groove width, depth, spacing and end profile.
- Steel backing, hook or T-slot dimensions when applicable.
- Any left/right difference or installation direction.
Photographs that reduce uncertainty
Photograph the installed set, front and back after removal, side profile, both locking ends, worn areas and the machine nameplate. Include a ruler or caliper in dimension photographs.
When to send a sample
A complete sample is recommended for a complex locking profile, badly deformed cover, missing drawing or stable repeat-supply requirement. Mark its machine position and installation direction.
Do not treat the worn thickness of an old cover as the original specification. Incorrect thickness changes die contact and pressure settings.
